When I Was 8

Here are some thoughts from our students after the final reading of our book.

What lessons have we learned?
- be strong
- be kind
- be fearless
- be brave
- we are all the same
- don't let yourself down
- keep trying
- residential schools aren't good
- residential schools take away your name and culture
- it is terrible to take someone's culture away
- residential schools wouldn't let you be who you want to be, and that's important

What is your advice to future generations?
- you shouldn't make a school like a residential school
- you shouldn't make a school that takes your culture away from you
- stay strong and stand up for others
- learning is important and learning about other cultures and accepting them is important
- be kind and accepting to others
