Holland and Outdoor Ed

Today we traveled to Holland. We learned about Sinterclaus, landscape and culture, and how they celebrate Christmas. Ask us about it!

We also created magazine Christmas trees and finished our elves! We will be finishing the trees next week. Ask us how we created the trees.

And, at the end of the day we did a scavenger hunt and challenge. We will complete it in the next week or so. Ask us about our favourite challenge so far on the list. It is an advent calendar that you can use to take your kiddos outside too!

Happy Crazy Hair day everyone! I loved seeing all the 'dos and the creativity!

Today at School

We recently did a math activity in the forts area with our purple cohort finding and tracking coloured ice cubes! Ask us about it. As we played there today we found new ways to play with the colourful ice. Also check out this pinecone! It reminded us of the legend where the ends of the seeds are the mice tails. Ask us about it.

Tomorrow we begin travel across the world from our magical airplane. We did passport applications, made luggages and talked about the process of travel. We talked about new ways people travel and how we all wish we could travel for real but for now, this is going to be a lot of fun!

Tomorrow will be our last day of basketball. We have been playing mini games. Although these little games today didn't go so well, we learned about teamwork, sportsmanship and always trying your best (along with the skills of passing and dribbling). We shook all that negative energy away in a dance off at the end of class and I am so proud of how empathetic and hard working this group is!

We've Been Busy!

I apologize for the jumble this post turned into! Although it's not organized it's showing soooo many things we have been doing the last few weeks. We have scream art (inspired by the Munch painting The Scream) to show how line colour and expression can make you feel something in art. We have some forts time (building snowballs, making small designs, working on problem solving and team buliding). We have some pictures of some of our basketball drills! Ask us about how the line works. We have started Christmas Thursdays which gives us time in a safe space with our whole purple cohort to practice our Christmas song and create ornaments. Ask us what we made this week and keep an eye on the backpack, it will arrive home this week. We have some leaf art (3D and 2D experimenting with texture, line, colour and a variety of mediums).
And, we have some views of our recently decorated classroom, what our silent writing time looks like and a sample of some of the math we are working on (ask us about estimating sums) and a chart we recently used to create a climbing story. We also know how to make a walking story. Ask us what the difference is! And there some shots of our dance offs in Gym. We LOVE it and have a blast having fun with each other.

I hope to have shorter more succinct posts in the future! I truly hope you are all well. We are having a lot of fun here in Grade 3!
